Why Nour Punp Trust Was Founded

The fragmentation of tribal society today is largely due to the erosion of cultural and social boundaries. Languages, rituals, traditions, values, and belief systems are being abandoned, weakening the very foundation that once united communities.

Instead of waiting for change to come from elsewhere, we chose to begin the transformation ourselves.

With a commitment to preserving tribal language, culture, customs, values, festivals, and ancestral wisdom—while simultaneously embracing modern education and economic development—Nour Punp Charitable Trust began its journey in 2016.

Our work started modestly with the establishment of Budhu Veer Lurkuḍiya in abandoned residential quarters of the HINDALCO bauxite mining colony, located on the Paat Plateau, approximately 10 kilometers from the plains. The initiative gradually gained momentum, and in 2016, Nour Punp Charitable Trust was formally registered.

Today, the Trust operates four educational units, where thousands of tribal children receive a balanced education that integrates:

  • Modern English-medium learning
  • Traditional tribal knowledge
  • Indigenous languages such as Kurukh, Mundari, Ho, Kharia, and Santali
  • Cultural practices, festivals, music, and customs

Our long-term vision is to establish hundreds of such institutions, ensuring quality education rooted in identity and pride for future generations.
